Affiliate marketing is the mechanism by which an individual or a company promotes goods and services. This relationship works as the merchant searches out an affiliate who then promotes the goods of the merchant. This affiliate markets the product to its audience with the expectation that it can draw its own supporters and customers' interest.
Suppose a conversion—where the affiliate's follower makes a transaction with the merchant—is made. In that case, the merchant may pay the affiliate for their work. Depending on the affiliate marketing model, this payment may be a percentage of the net profit generated from the transaction, or it may be a locked-in rate charged per conversion.
